VTLCI Classes Canceled Afternoon of Thursday, January 17

VTLCI classes are canceled from 12:00PM forward on Thursday, January 17, due to an anticipated winter storm. If no announcement is posted for Friday, classes will go on as regularly scheduled. Please review the other information on this site to help prepare for the cold and snowy conditions these next few days.

PRECAUTIONS FOR WINTER WEATHER

Cold weather, snow and ice are normal for Virginia in the winter months, but can be dangerous without preparation.

Dress warmly.
Make sure you have a flashlight, candles and plenty of blankets at home in case you lose power.
Keep at least three days of food on-hand. If we have a large snowstorm, shops may be closed and/or it may be difficult to travel.

Do not use kerosene heaters indoors; carbon monoxide released by kerosene heaters can cause death.
Take a bus to classes. Driving can be dangerous, especially if you are not used to winter conditions.
Parking can also be difficult when there is too much snow on the ground.
Do not stay in your home if you have no heat. If you lose power at home, you may want to stay with friends or in a hotel.
Stay in touch with classmates.
