VTLCI Classes Canceled Afternoon of October 4th, 2012

VTLCI classes are canceled for the afternoon today, October 4th, 2012, due to a power outage in our area. We are hoping to have power restored sometime today. If no announcement is posted tomorrow, we will be open.

PRECAUTIONS FOR WINTER WEATHER

Cold weather, snow and ice are normal for Virginia in the winter months, but can be dangerous without preparation.

Dress warmly.
Make sure you have a flashlight, candles and plenty of blankets at home in case you lose power.
Keep at least three days of food on-hand. If we have a large snowstorm, shops may be closed and/or it may be difficult to travel.

Do not use kerosene heaters indoors; carbon monoxide released by kerosene heaters can cause death.
Take a bus to classes. Driving can be dangerous, especially if you are not used to winter conditions.
Parking can also be difficult when there is too much snow on the ground.
Do not stay in your home if you have no heat. If you lose power at home, you may want to stay with friends or in a hotel.
Stay in touch with classmates.
